Recreate yourself in heartful journaling . . .
Does your devotional time ever feel boring and have no vibrancy? Do you often dread it. Me too! I recognize over the years how my devotional life has always had shifts. What started out with highlighters, concordances, CDs, and note pads changed to sitting quietly before the Lord, to any number of other means of devotion.
At the beginning of this year, I had grown weary of devotions and decided to add art to my journaling process. I cannot even express the difference in my devotional time now. I simply began adding colored pencils but quickly realized that didn’t give me the depth of color or texture I desired. So I added watercolor and oil crayons. At this point, I have added markers, ink, and whatever else I can find to bring my devotional time to life.
Don’t think you need an art degree to enjoy this process. It didn’t help me one bit! It’s more about being open to expressing yourself to the Lord in a different way, being open to the Creator in using this newfound process. I have been amazed at how heartful journaling opens up the lines of communication between me and God in ways I couldn’t have expected or imagined.

Supplies: Basic supplies will be available but would strongly suggest you purchase and bring your own journal and watercolors or gel markers. Some journals are designed for watercolors. But if you find a journal you love, Kerri will show you how to glue the pages so the watercolor won’t bleed through.
