We all think there’s a destination that we’re aspiring to, but what’s really important and overlooked is the Journey.

Do you ever feel like you started out walking with the Lord, and you were so excited, and everything was so amazing and so vibrant, He was so big and so real and so in your face, and so alive and so tangible and all the things.
And then as you walk out your relationship, suddenly you’re like, “Lord, where are You? Lord, are You still here? Lord, did I leave You, did You leave me? What happened? What’s changed?”
And then you just start thinking, Okay, silence is your favorite language. But it’s still frustrating.
Well, I’ve been in that place. And this morning, I just happened to read Psalm 30, and I love reading it in The Passion translation. So let me read it for you, for those of you that feel like I feel. We skip down to the 7th verse, the 6th and 7th verse.
It says,
“I remember boasting, ‘I’ve got it made! Nothing can stop me now! I’m God’s favored one; he’s made me steady as a mountain!’
“But then suddenly, you hid your face from me. I was panic-stricken and became depressed.
“Still I cried out to you, Lord God. I shouted out for mercy, saying,
‘What would you gain in my death, if I were to go down to the depths of darkness? Will a grave sing your song? How could death’s dust declare your faithfulness?’
“So hear me now, Lord; show me your famous mercy. O God, be my Savior and rescue me!
“Then he broke through and transformed all my wailing into a whirling dance of ecstatic praise! He has torn the veil and lifted from me the sad heaviness of mourning. He wrapped me in the glory-garments of gladness.
“How could I be silent when it’s time to praise you? Now my heart sings out, bursting with joy— a bliss inside that keeps me singing, “I can never thank you enough!” [Psalm 30:6-12 TPT]
So, that gave me great joy to think that if David said it, it must be real, and I’m not the only one.
So, if you feel like you’ve been walking with the Lord a really long time, and He just gets quieter and quieter, I get you, I feel you, I know how you feel. I think that’s God’s way, you know? He’s quiet with those He’s comfortable with.
And so, we have to hear Him and see Him in the birds, and in the grass, and in the spring, and in the blooming flowers, and in the faces of our grandchildren, and in the little things, we have to seek Him out.
He’s not so loud as He was when we first started walking. But now I think He’s more prevalent. We just have to search Him out. And I think that’s back to the word as well, search Him out like silver and gold. He is our treasure, and He’s to be sought, and He’s worthy of being sought.
So, let’s do that together. I hope you find Him today in the small things.
