A guest post by Janet Eriksson . . .
A prayer inspired by the woman at the well.
Lord Jesus, I love how You show me the importance of rest. You knew when to stop and just “be.”
When I read Your story, I can feel the midday heat, the roughness of the road on Your feet, the fatigue of the journey. You knew when it was time to rest and renew. You modeled that for me.
So many times I keep going when I should take a break. So often I forget to just sit still and enjoy a time of refreshment with You. I forget to give my body, mind, and emotions the space they need to reset and renew. Thank You, Jesus, for Your story that reminds me to rest.
It was because You rested by the well that You had this life-changing encounter with the Samaritan woman. How many encounters do I miss, Lord, because I am too busy?
Help me stay in tune with Your rhythms of life. Help me know when to move and rest, when to sleep and wake. I want to stay focused on You throughout the day, to be aware of Your constant presence, to know that You are walking with me on this journey together.
Thank You, God, that You give us a time to rest. What a gift and blessing from You. Help me not to miss those moments of resting by the well with You.
I pray in Your name, Jesus. Amen
