The Power of Inner Vows: A Dog’s Healing

A guest post by Susan McPherson . . .

“I’ll never take care of my kids’ animals.” How many of us have said that, not knowing the impact it would have on our lives if faced with that decision again?

Fast forward 23 years, and I found myself taking care of my daughter’s precious, adorable toy Yorkie, Tiana. I was taking care of her the best I could. That’s what moms do, right? I was providing a home, feeding her, and tending to her physical needs. All the while, I was wondering, Should I give her back to my daughter? Should I keep her? I couldn’t decide. Shelter from the Chaos in Life

A guest post by Karen Castleberry . . .

Bible Verse

When you abide under the shadow of Shaddai, you are hidden in the strength of God Most High. He’s the hope that holds me and the stronghold to shelter me, the only God for me, and my great confidence. Psalm 91:1-2 TPT

Reflection

Talking with some of my friends the other day sparked a bittersweet memory of my childhood. When I was a little girl, my aunt separated from her husband and came to live with us with her four children. Our house was bursting at the seams with three adults and eight children. Emotions ran high all the time, which overloaded my sensitive system.

Growing up in a Christian family, I can’t remember not knowing God, yet I had not developed a personal relationship with Him at that time. I didn’t know how to go to God for my refuge in the midst of chaos. Continue reading “Shelter from the Chaos in Life”

Storms of Life

A guest post by Karen Castleberry . . .

Bible Verse

“… [looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity] …” – Hebrews 12:2a AMP

Reflection

I was praying on the phone with Tara, my niece. We were focusing on Jesus and abiding in Him. A very loud thunderstorm blew into Gainesville, Georgia, where Tara was. She was in awe of the majestic power of God in the storm and was enjoying being in the middle of it. She had her eyes on Jesus. Continue reading “Storms of Life”

Holy Moments

Feel like you just washed up on the shore, like driftwood from 2024? Wondering how to pull yourself together for the next wave, 2025? I discovered a life buoy that might help in this new season.

I recently enjoyed a wonderful afternoon, three friends catching up after a year of losses, battles, upheavals. Ready to wrap up 2024 like a half-eaten biscuit and embrace this new season with excitement.

After laughing, growling, prepping for what’s next, we parted ways, basking in the bliss of being together. Being with friends you can cuss and spit with, as you help each other sift through the turbulence, knowing they will always have your back, always be there for you is time well spent. What we don’t often realize when we meet with good friends is that we are experiencing a holy moment. Continue reading “Holy Moments”

Summer Solstice Sunrise

A guest post by Karen Castleberry . . .

“But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.” — Malachi 4:2 (NIV)

My mother-in-law, June, celebrated her 81st birthday on the summer solstice, June 20, 2020, the longest day of the year. We gathered her children and grandchildren at her home in celebration of her life. Continue reading “Summer Solstice Sunrise”

God in the Orchard

A guest post by Janet Eriksson . . .

One of my favorite parts of summer is spending time in the beautiful orchards in the countryside where I live. When I am surrounded by green orchard trees bending over with delicious fruit, leaves and branches dancing in a warm breeze, my spirit comes alive. I love sitting on a front porch swing eating a peach and listening to the song birds, as they sing their symphony to God. Continue reading “God in the Orchard”
